Fairgate at Bitcoin 2025: Bridging the Future of Bitcoin Interoperability

BitVMX gains traction as a Bitcoin key player for expanding the blockchain towards new ventures
Last week, Fairgate and BitVMX took the stage at Bitcoin 2025 in Las Vegas — one of the most anticipated gatherings in the global Bitcoin community. Over three packed days, we unveiled new breakthroughs, forged key partnerships, and engaged directly with the builders shaping the future of Bitcoin programmability and scalability.
Here’s a look back at what we shared, what we saw, and what’s next.

Day 1: Cardinal Launch at Input | Output’s Event
Our week kicked off with a bang at the Lunch & Learn session “Put your BTC to work with DeFi” hosted by Input | Output and Lace wallet. From the very beginning, it was clear that BitVMX and Fairgate would be some of the event’s key participants.
Leaders like Charles Hoskinson, Brandon Wolf (GM of Lace), and technical leads Torben Poguntke and Riley Kilgore emphasized the strategic role of BitVMX and our team’s contributions to advancing Bitcoin–Cardano interoperability.

Bitcoin Ordinals Bridged to Cardano for the First Time with BitVMX Protocol
Bitcoin Ordinals Bridged to Cardano for the First Time with BitVMX Protocol Bitcoin Ordinals can now be wrapped and bridged to Cardano via the trust-minimized BitVMX framework, unlocking a $1.5 trillion DeFi opportunity
We also celebrated a major milestone: Bitcoin Ordinals were bridged for the first time to Cardano powered by BitVMX. This cross-chain achievement enables NFTs and UTXOs to move from Bitcoin into Cardano’s smart contract ecosystem — securely and without custodians. It was a proud moment to see our work recognized on such a large stage.

Introducing Cardinal: How BitVMX Bridges Bitcoin Ordinals to Cardano, Unlocking Cross-Chain DeFi
A behind-the-scenes look at how Fairgate enabled the first trust-minimized Ordinals movement between Bitcoin and Cardano — and what it means for the future of decentralized finance.
BitVMX and Fairgate on the Main Stage
To close the day, Sergio Lerner joined a standout panel alongside Charles Hoskinson, Eric Wall (Taproot Wizards), and David Tse (Babylon), among others. Together, they explored the evolution of Bitcoin DeFi and the path to more decentralized, programmable infrastructure.

We also spent the afternoon connecting with other teams across the massive expo floor and continued meeting with potential partners — while making final preparations for our own side event the following day.
Day 2: BitVMX FORCE Technical Deep Dive
On Wednesday, we hosted a private side event: BitVMX FORCE — a focused session designed to highlight the most recent developments in scalability, security, and interoperability on Bitcoin.

In an intimate, technically-driven gathering, Ariel Futoransky (Futo) and Sergio Lerner introduced two major innovations:
- Transfer of Ownership Protocol (TOOP): a new model for secure, non-custodial Bitcoin asset bridging using 1-of-n honest committees.
- ESSPI: a fresh approach to program integrity and verification in cross-chain environments
Fairgate | ESSPI: ECDSA / Schnorr Signed Program Input for BitVMX
In this paper, we introduce a novel approach to signing BitVMX program inputs using ECDSA or Schnorr signatures, replacing the traditional one-time signature (OTS) scheme.
Attendees appreciated the opportunity to dive deep into real technical progress — not just vision, but working code and research.
Day 3 – Expanding Connections and Conversations
On the final day of Bitcoin 2025 we continued meeting with potential partners and clients, deepening conversations started earlier in the week.
Between networking and exploring the expo floor, we engaged with key players across the ecosystem—exchanging ideas, discovering aligned projects, and strengthening our position in the growing Bitcoin interoperability landscape.
Wrapping Up: Recognition, Reach, and What’s Next
Bitcoin 2025 was more than just a showcase — it was a confirmation that our work is resonating. From demos and stage recognition to original protocol research, we left Las Vegas with renewed new energy, deeper relationships, and expanded awareness.
Thanks to everyone who joined us, supported our work, or stopped by to learn more. The Fairgate gig is far from over! New challenges to come for the second half of the year!
