In the second one, Citrea announces Kumquat, the first fork on its platform. Kumquat aims to explore new use cases and governance models, taking advantage of Citrea’s blockchain architecture.

Forks allow systems to upgrade (or sometimes downgrade) to a different set of rules. Every system upgrades differently, most popularly via hard forks or soft forks. Kumquat is an example of a hard fork.
